Entebbe is often the first stop for visitors that arrive in Uganda via airplane. The city provides a great deal more than just an airport terminal for its residents as well as for tourists.
In the middle of Lake Victoria, on an island, is where you'll find Entebbe. In the middle of Uganda, about 45 kilometres separate the capital city of Kampala from the city of Entebbe. Kampala is located in the country's central region. In addition to this, it is the location of a number of buildings that are used by the government, such as the President's official residence and office
Why Book A Holiday To Entebbe?
If you are flying to or from Entebbe it is a pleasant alternative to Kampala for a stopover because the air is clean, the roads are safe to walk on, and the
beautiful colonial gardens and playgrounds with the lakes in the background provide for a calm ambiance.
When in Entebbe, it is essential that you pay a visit to the Entebbe Zoo. Explore the displays inside the visitor centre to get an up-closer look at the native
animals of Uganda, some of which you might have missed on your prior hikes and safaris. The staff is very knowledgeable about the animals and is happy to have conversations with visitors about the work they perform and the conservation efforts that are currently being undertaken. It is highly recommended that you go on a Behind the Scenes tour if you have any interest in getting up and personal with the animals. You won't have any trouble reaching the young
cheetahs, giraffes, rhinoceroses, and elephants, and you'll have the option of either feeding them or petting them.
Must See And Do In Entebbe
Most Popular Places and Activities to Explore in Entebbe
Ngamba Island
Ngamba Island is the second-best place to visit in Entebbe. Ngamba, also called Chimp Island, is a short boat ride away from Entebbe's shores. Chimpanzees found from the illegal pet trade who were either orphaned or captured may be found there. The chimpanzees here are quite friendly, and you may see them in their natural habitat while also learning about the organization's conservation activities.
Botanical Gardens
Entebbe's Botanical Gardens are quite breathtaking, and everyone should go take a stroll through them. During your journey to the shores of Lake Victoria, you can come across a variety of plant species and pass through areas with dense tree canopies. Be on the lookout at all times for monkeys and other animals and birds that live in the area. Please make an effort to get in touch with someone who can help you navigate the enormous grounds and who can guide you through the entry process. Your guide will not only be able to provide you with interesting commentary, but they will also be able to identify the many species of flora and wildlife that you come across during your stroll. Your level of enjoyment of the activity will greatly rise as a result of doing so.
Reptile Village
Reptile Village is the place to go in Entebbe, if you want to view some spectacular species that can be found anywhere in the world. Reptiles that have been rescued or wounded from various parts of Uganda are housed here. Learn more about their objective to teach people about the importance of wildlife
preservation. When you leave this place, you will undoubtedly feel more sympathy for these wild animals.
Mpanga Central Forest
Mpanga Central Forest Reserve is the perfect place to escape away to the woods, yet being just an hour from Entebbe. Check out the flying squirrels, monkeys, birds, and butterflies on a guided stroll in the forest along one of the paths. It is also possible to arrange for a guided tour of the Kiganda shrines. Spending longer than a few hours at Mpanga Central Forest Reserve is possible with the help of the reserve's potential accommodations or by bringing your own
camping products and cooking supplies.
Ssese Islands
The Ssese Islands are a hidden gem off the coast of Uganda's capital of Entebbe, with beautiful beaches built of pristine white sand. If you plan on swimming in Lake Victoria while on the Ssese Islands, the waterways around a few of the more isolated islands may be home to hippopotamus and crocodiles. Seaside
activities like fishing and boating are still accessible. Out of all the 84 islands that make up the archipelago, Bugala is by far the largest.
Buddhist Center
Entebbe is home to Uganda's singular Buddhist Centre. This location is also notable for being established by a person of African descent. The Buddhist Centre hosts several events open to the public at no cost. Mindfulness meditation is taught to individuals of all ages in these programmes, and community initiatives are undertaken to address problems like water scarcity and the underrepresentation of women and youth in leadership roles.
Anderita Beach
Anderita Beach is where you should go if you're searching for a place to kick back, relax, and enjoy some tasty cuisine and a refreshing drink. Goretti's Beachside Pizzeria, 2 Friends Beach Restaurant, and Thai Garden are some of our favourite spots to eat when visiting Anderita Beach. These restaurants are
located just a little away from the beach. You will get the impression that you are on a remote ocean island because of the warm air and the sound of waves crashing into the shore. In reality, you are on a peninsula on a lake. During your time in Entebbe, you won't want to miss out on going to Anderita Beach.
Aero Beach
During your stay in Entebbe, a visit to Aero Beach is not to be missed. The name "Aero Beach" comes from a nearby museum housing a number of historic planes. Famous personalities including Nelson Mandela, the Queen of England, Barack and Michelle Obama, and Yoweri Museveni, the President of Uganda, all have monuments in the park. The popularity of this spot makes for an interesting picture background, despite the fact that it is louder and busier than Anderita Beach.
Best Time to Visit
The months of January, February, July, and August, which are all considered to be dry seasons in Entebbe, are the ideal times to pay the city a visit.
