Must See And Do In Grenada

Most Popular Places and Activities to Explore in Grenada

Underwater Sculpture Park

It is a distinctive underwater gallery that is also known to be the park that doubles as an artificial reef in an area protected by the marine. It is located on Grenada's west coast in Molinere Bay, that is just a short drive away from the St. George's north. The sculptures were made by Jason Decaires Taylor, a

well-known artist and include everything from life-size figurines cast by neighbourhood kids to Amerindian petroglyphs. This underwater show is accessible to glass bottom boat visitors, snorkelers and divers yet getting up close to these sculptures underwater is considered to be the perfect way to honour their craftsmanship.

Grand Anse Beach

It is the most well-known beach of Grenada that is surrounded by coconut palms, sea grapes, and almond trees. Visitors from cruise ships swarm to this 3km stretch of calm surf and golden sand. The tranquil waters are ideal for swimming and range in colour from deep cobalt blue to clear turquoise in the shallows. The dunes are crowded with hawkers, but a simple "No, thank you" will keep them away.

Some of the other popular destinations like The Spice Market and Grande Anse Craft, for cruise ship tourists, is located halfway along the beach if the tourists wish to indulge in a small retail therapy.

Next to the Grand, Anse shoreline are many of Grenada's top hotels. Spice Island Beach Resort, an all-inclusive resort is located only steps from the beach, one of the most well-known boutique hotels on the island, of the Caribbean.

Fort Frederick

Fort Frederick, perched atop Richmond Hill, provides breathtaking scenes of St. George's and the ocean at the end of sweeping hairpin twists. The history of the fort is fascinating. The French built Fort Frederick in 1779, and it was finished by the British in 1791. As a result of the French fearing a surprise land attack

following their successful employment of this tactic against the British, it is known as the "backward-facing fort". That is due to the fact that its cannons point inside rather than out to the sea. This fort was entirely abandoned in 1850, and it wasn't until later that the Grenadian military took it. You must pay a small

entrance fee to enter the site, but it's well worth it for the vistas.

Spice Tours & Tastings

One of the most unusual activities in Grenada is sampling fragrant spices. You can visit several interesting locations where you can discover more about the spice trade and observe how the plants are grown. The Belmont Estate is situated at an hour’s distance from St. George's. It provides a range of tours

examining the spices and tropical fruits of the organic farms. You may discover more about cocoa farming and the production of chocolate at this 17th-century

plantation (with tastings along the way). Those who are chocolate lovers can go for a visit that contains a delicious three-course lunch that also includes

chocolate in each course. To go for chocolate shopping and buying regional crafts are two more enjoyable things to do in this location. Children will adore the

petting zoo and all its animals, including talking parrots, goats, donkeys, and tortoises. A more personal experience is provided by Laura's Herb & Spice Garden. Your excursion starts with a tour of the stunning spice gardens, with tastings and advice on their health advantages. Visit the Dougaldston Spice Estate for a more rural setting. Here, locals show visitors how the island's spices are cultivated and prepared, and you can roam among the historic wooden structures while tasting various herbs. After doing all these tours, you may load up on nutmeg, vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, and other treats in the on-site gift stores.

Levera National Park

This Park is situated on the north eastern coast of the island and presents some breath-taking and spectacular landscapes where the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea converge. Here, you'll find several appealing beaches that are still largely undeveloped. Corals and Bathways Beach, backed by cliffs, gives lovely views of the distant, pointed Levera Island also called as the “Sugar Loaf” including some other islands too. Though a reef on the offshore provides

swimming safety. Levera Beach is equally as charming as Bathways but sees fewer people. On the beaches here, sea turtles regularly lay their eggs. Levera Pond, an ancient volcanic crater filled with water and a crucial birds’ habitat like herons and black-necked stilts, is also noteworthy. Before visiting, the tourists can stop at the entrance of the park where visitors’ centre is located to learn more about these significant habitats.

If you visit Grenada, you must visit the capital of Grenada, St. George's, is one of the most picturesque cities of the Caribbean, with a bustling waterfront filled with yachts. In Grenada, you can even go for island hopping; the less populated Carriacou and Petite Martinique are located off the country's northeast coast. The steep main island, known as the "Spice Isle," is home to several nutmeg farms. Additionally, it is the location of St. George's, the nation's capital, whose

vibrant residences, Georgian structures, and Fort George from the early 18th century overlook little Carenage Harbour. Grand Anse Beach, which has hotels and bars, is to the south. The former British colony's tropical paradise is known for its exquisite chocolates and beautiful mountainous landscapes. It also has a long history of growing spices.
